Course of Fire

  1. Pistol, compressed ready 1.0s
  2. Pistol, from holster 1.5s
  3. Rifle, low ready (45°) 1.0s
  4. Rifle, high ready (45°) 1.0s
  5. Rifle-to-pistol transition 2.5s

Setup

C-zone steel or IPSC target at 25 yards. Rifle and pistol required. Rifle starts loaded, pistol holstered. 5 iterations on a C-zone target at 25 yards. No warm-up allowed. Total: 5 rounds of all. 15 rounds for long man card.

Strategy

This is a cold test of fundamentals—run it without warm-up. Each iteration is pass/fail on both time and accuracy. Focus on consistent presentations and clean trigger presses.

About This Drill

Created by Rick Crawley at Achilles Heel Tactical as a minimal-ammo performance standard. The drill exposes gaps in your fundamentals under time pressure. Passing the Short Card earns you a "Man Card" and qualifies you to attempt the 14-iteration Long Card.
